Otay Water Declares Level 1 Drought Watch

We need your help.  Our imported water supplies have been cut, so we need to reduce water use immediately.  Your efforts can make a big difference now, and for San Diego County’s future.  To help achieve this goal, here are some water-saving tips:

  • Take short showers (5 min. max)
  • Do only full loads in the dishwasher and clothes washer
  • Turn off the water while brushing teeth, soaping hands and shaving
  • Fix leaky toilets and faucets
  • Wash the car with a bucket
  • Use a self-closing hose nozzle
  • Water no more than 3 days per week
  • Reduce runoff from you lawn by breaking-up your irrigation start times
  • Visit the Water Conservation Garden for great landscaping ideas and use drought-tolerant plants
  • Take advantage of rebates offered on water-saving devices such as:
    • High-Efficiency Clothes Washer Rebates – up to $185
    • Single Family High-Efficiency Toilet and Upgrade Rebates – up to $200
    • Smart Irrigation Controller Rebates – up to $350
    • Rotating Nozzle Rebates – up to $4 per nozzle
    • Artificial Turf program – $1 per square foot
  • Replace unused, thirsty turf grass with water-wise plants and receive a $1.00 per square foot incentive
